Black Panther

Black Panther:

The marvel universe has always had a large fan base with brining in over $13.5 billion at the box office just from the past 10 years, they have a very loyal fan base and this film helped it gain more as the cultural impact the film had on society. Black Panther is a 2018 super hero film, Black Panther has been hinted at since Iron Man 2. It is the 18th movie in the marvel cinematic universe. directed by Ryan Coogler the film does stay true to the original idea of superhero genre and helps expand and add more onto the marvel cinematic universe. it doesn't just fill the marvel universe but fills in history. this film is different from normal marvel movies, one of the reasons is the narrative its an origin story not for the titular hero but for the country he protects, this is different from the typical hero saving the city, in doing this it gives the performance more emotion as he is being brave and is fighting for his country and people. the area of Wakanda is a fictional place in an unknown area, adding onto that he does it for his people and not for the cameras and fame.another reason that black panther stands out in the MCU universe is because of the cast and characters, the main star Chadwick Boseman, who had recently passed away had been battling cancer for a few years and still did a fantastic performance during the movie. Furthermore, black panther is the first movie in the MCU to have a predominately black cast. Black Panther appeals to all genders and races, with the film being a PG 13, it had younger audience, however the target audience for black panther is the black community, as it is very powerful and liberating to the black community as they are still oppressed in modern day society, however the film is for everyone and makes all genders and ages feel welcomed. Black Panther got amazing responses from a lot of critics and had 6 Oscar nominations and had won 3, this is powerful as the oscars have the #, #OscarsSoWhite, as the oscars have a lack of diversity and is predominately white, so it is very moving and powerful because a predominately black cast to win and get nominated for that many oscars, this film is also very powerful for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Harlem Renaissance:
In the early 20th Century, the Harlem Renaissance was the growth of the Harlem area in New York City as a black cultural mecca and the ensuing social and artistic explosion. From the 1910s to the mid-1930s, the time is considered a golden age of African American culture.

The Black Panthers:
Its members questioned officials, challenged the police, and defended the brutality of black people. Food, clothes, and transport were provided by the party's community service projects, called survival projects. Members wanted to radically change it, instead of incorporating American society. Black empowerment has become a global movement, for them.

Afrofuturism:
in 1993, seeks to reclaim black identity through art, culture, and political resistance. Since it is rooted in chronological fluidity, it is an inter sectional prism through which to perceive alternative futures or alternate realities.

Oscar So White:
In nominations for the Academy Awards, or Oscars, # OscarsSoWhite is a hashtag used to point out the lack of diversity, particularly people of colour, but also women and the LGBTQ community. As a call for the representation of oppressed communities in all facets of the film industry, it has grown.
