LNWH: Late Night Woman's Hour
history and Background: this podcast is a late-night edition of the long-running, bbc radio 4 programme woman's hour . the podcast started in started in june 2015 and had a one month pilot run, scheduled twice-weekly on Thursday and Friday at 23:00 for one hour.The presenters for this first run were lauren laverne who is 41 and Jane Garvey who is 55 and led panels of five guests in discussion of a particular topic such as fan fiction or lust .Lauren Laverne then became the permanent host when the programme started a regular schedule in 2016, being scheduled as a monthly podcast which was then broadcast on Radio 4 at 11 pm on the last Thursday of each month. The topics discussed in the first run included the dating app, Tinder and lying. The conversation was frank and adult, this was suited for bbc 4 as their target audience was adults ages from age 35+ and reflects culture witch is the themes and topics shown within the podcast. it was also being broadcast late at night, rather than during the daytime to help fity in with the target audience of the people who were listing. In 2018, Late Night Woman's Hour became available in a weekly podcast format via bbc sounds as well as other podcast apps. Guests include technology evangelist Dr Sue Black, Guardian beauty columnist Sali Hughes, writer and broadcaster Afua Hirsch, influencer Chidera Eggerue, author and blogger Emma Gannon, Elle Deputy Editor Kenya Hunt, journalist Miranda Sawyer and writer and comedian Viv Groskop. In autumn 2018, radio 5 broadcaster broadcaster and journalist Emma Barnett who is ages 35 took over from Lauren Laverne as presenter. they use formal language witch would be understood by the older generation this can be watched by both men and women as they talk about all subjects however some episodes are more targeted towards females as they talk about female subjects. this again means the mode of address is targeted towards more of older audience as older and mature people use formal language. the show uses upbeat music and sound effects as the hosts are usually laughing at subjects instead of taking them serious this helps the audience feel more upbeat and relaxed instead of being serious showing the show as mature as it can talk about serious subjects but still have it be lighthearted. the audience would also be middle class or upper middle class instead of the working class. the rtesponce to the show was that it is a stable and safe for bbc 4 with high ranking reviews from people this show works best on bbc 4 because of the audience and time that it is on. the audience says it is best on at 11 as it isn't blurred out words and being later it can get away with this, people will prefer to watch this at night as it is less shocking at night. overall people love this show and find it very cool. there wast much adverting for this show beside the bbc promoting it, the show relied on reviews and articles to be seen by people.
